Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County Selects 2012 Partner Family
For Kendell and Krystal Roberts, one journey came to a happy conclusion this week just as another begins.
On Monday morning, amidst family, friends, co-workers and Habitat volunteers, the Roberts family were invited to a surprise gathering, as Habitat’s Vice President Jonathan Mitchell announced that they had been selected as the Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County partner family for the next Habitat home.
This journey began in May as Kendell and Krystal filed their application papers and began Habitat’s family selection process. 2011 Habitat Home Community Beautification Winner
Last year’s 2010 Habitat for Humanity home was selected in July as the Community Beautification Award winner.
Lisa Puckett received the award in recognition for her work on her home and the impact it has on her neighborhood and community. As a Pride of Maryville award winner, Puckett was recognized for her property improvement. The award is given to those identified as having gone an extra step to improve the appearance of their property. The home was the 2011 home constructed by Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County, Puckett and family members and friends, and community volunteers.
Second Maryville Home Dedicated
The second home constructed in Maryville has been completed by Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County. Lisa Puckett and her children, Robert, Christopher and Cassandra, now occupy their new home, located at 1123 East Second St. in Maryville.
“I am totally overwhelmed with the thought of moving into this house,” Puckett said. “It just means the world to me to see my children have a house like this. All the volunteers that have helped with building the house have been amazing.”
