The Application Process

  • Applications are generally accepted in April/May before the construction process begins in the fall.
  • As the Habitat Board commences the home construction process, the first step is to identify the new Habitat family the ones who will help construct the new home and purchase it from Habitat through a zero-interest mortgage.
  • Applicants must attend an information meeting at which the entire Habitat process is explained, will complete an application to become a Habitat homeowner and provide information to the Family Selection Committee regarding their income, current living conditions and other financial and employment/income factors.
  • Applications are provided during the information meeting, and Habitat financial experts assist the applicants in completing the document and securing the financial information.
