We Need Your Help!

You can make a difference in the life of a family here in Nodaway County by getting involved with a committee or volunteering on the construction site. Habitat for Humanity’s labor force is primarily volunteers.  No matter what your skill level or interest, there’s always a way to get involved with Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County and give back to our community!

Family Selection Committee:

The members of this Committee work on the selection of the Habitat partner family. They review the applications, make home visits, and ultimately recommend a partner family to the Board of Directors. It is an excellent opportunity to work with families in need as they achieve their goal of home ownership.

Family Support Committee:

Site Selection Committee:

Before a home can be constructed, Habitat must secure a building location. The Site Selection Committee identifies, evaluates and recommends building site locations throughout Nodaway County as the Board matches a partner family with a building site that is appropriate for their needs.

Construction Committee:

This Committee coordinates the publicity components of Habitat of Nodaway County with the fund-raising portion of the tasks. This includes publicizing the family selection process, coordinating various fund raising steps to ensure that sufficient funds are raised to underwrite the Habitat home and generally spreading the word about Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County.

Public Relations Committee:

Members of this Committee connect Habitat and its work to our donors, volunteers and the Nodaway County community at large.  From fundraising to underwrite the costs of construction and site purchase to information sharing regarding the Habitat partner family selection and the construction process, this Committee allows our supporters and community member to know what is happening with Habitat and where they can plug-in to support and help us.  Fundraising, media relations, announcement coordination and general information sharing is all part of the responsibilities of this group.

Volunteer Coordinator:

Everything Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County does culminates with the construction of new Habitat homes.  There are many integral components in the process, but none more important than securing volunteers the labor that changes a pile of materials on a truck into a home for our partner family.  Our Volunteer Coordinators work with the construction team and community members to arrange for groups and individuals to participate on any given build day. From contacting businesses, club, organizations and churches to work with the Media Relations Committee for publicity, these individuals ensure that when we’re ready to build, there are volunteers there ready to work.
